Join us for our second annual plant auction! With both a live and a silent auction, you'll be sure to find all sorts of plants, gift certificates, garden items, and other donated goodies.
Want to donate your extra plants? We'll take them. We also accept garden items, non-garden goodies, gift certificates, and more. Contact us. We can arrange for items to be picked up. Donated live items may also be dropped off during the evenings on May 14 & 15, or during the day of May 16 beginning at 10 AM.
Are you a business that wishes to donate to our auction? We recognize you online and in our auction program. Contact us!
This auction serves as the major fundraiser for the Calvert Grange. We'll use the funds raised to maintain our building and provide support for community events and education, scholarships, 4-H and the local agricultural community.
Preview is at 5 PM. Cash or check with identification. Food will be available for purchase.
ABOUT THE CALVERT GRANGE: We are a nonprofit organization formed in 1953. The Grange's mission is to strengthen individuals, families, and communities through grassroots action, service, education, advocacy, and agriculture awareness.
In addition to supporting Cecil County 4-H, local agricultural groups, and providing funding for scholarships throughout the year, we hold a variety of events and partner for community outreach.
April On April 8, educator Maria Pippidis of the University of Delaware’s Cooperative Extension presented “Smart Use Health Insurance™ - Understanding Costs and Estimating Expenses” to community members. Ms. Pippidis detailed the types of insurance available on the Maryland Health Connection, reviewed common insurance terms that everyone should know, and provided a workbook for calculating projected healthcare needs vs. actual costs. One local farmer projected he will save over $600 per month and obtain a better healthcare plan by using the information presented at the session.
March On March 23, we hosted a small group quilling activity in March. Quilling is the centuries-old craft of shaping paper into delicate pleats or folds. Our instructor, Elizabeth McCullough, had over thirty years of quilling experience. In addition to instruction on quilling techniques, Mrs. McCullough provided a bit about the history of quilling and insights on how to make money designing custom quilling artwork.
February On February 23, we partnered with our local Cecil County AARP Tax-Aide volunteers to provide a free location for their community outreach on Maryland Tax Day.
